TACKLING HUNGER PAKISTAN

A DEVASTATING STORM

In late 2014, the strongest post monsoon storm ever recorded in Pakistan’s history occurred affecting over one million people. The storm caused devastation to people, livestock, homes and businesses, resulting in death, injury and mass displacement.

HELPING TO REBUILD

After the initial emergency relief operations that were carried out by a number of our partners organisations, the attention turned to providing stable long term shelter and essential provisions for those affected by the disaster. There was a huge requirement for food aid for those who had been re-homed while they sought some form of income generation.

WHAT WE DID

In response to the devastaion wreaked upon hundreds of thousands of families, our hunger, food & nutrition team launched a campaign in the UK in order to raise funds to provide some of the worst affected families with food parcels which would provide them with provisions for a number of weeks.

With the help of a local NGO, our team compiled a list of some of the most needy families and in the affected regions. Food aprcels containing various items were prepared and distributed.
