A TRUE UNDERSTANDING MACEDONIA

DAW’AH

In 2001, the very first translation of the noble Qur’an was printed in the Macedonian language. The translation had been made in a dialect used in villages by the Macedonian Muslim minority (2% of Macedonians). Therefore the vast majority of Macedonians, especially non-Muslims, could not understand it.

HELPING TO SPREAD THE WORD

In 2007, a team of scholars and academics decided to translate the noble Qur’an into the mainstream Macedonian language. The translation took three years to complete, contains 730 pages and includes 250 footnotes of explanations/meanings of the text. Five Imams with working experience in the Macedonian language spent approximately six months each reviewing the new translation of the noble Qur’an.

WHAT WE DID

Upon hearing about the new translation of the noble Qur’an, our Daw’ah team decided to be among the first to support the noble cause. An appeal was launched in the UK in order to raise funds for the printing of copies of the new translation of the Qur’an for free distribution in Macedonia.

Through a publishing house in Macedonia we printed two thousand high quality copies of the noble Qur’an, which were then gifted to people interested in Islam via Daw’ah stalls, book stalls, libraries and other public buildings such as hospitals and universities.
