REFUGEE
CRISIS MACEDONIA

IN SEARCH OF SAFETY

In 2015 the refugee crisis saw millions of people flee violence, persecution and poverty from several regions in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, in search of safety. The UN estimated 60,000 refugees had already made the journey across the Mediterranean Sea in 2015, while another 1,800 attempted the crossing but did not survive.

Tens of thousands of refugees were passing through Macedonia on a daily basis in a bid to reach the EU.

EASING THEIR HARDSHIP

In January of 2017, one of our long standing partner organisations based in Macedonia requested assistance in providing refugees whom they had housed in a centre with basic supplies such as tea, coffee and sugar.

WHAT WE DID

A financial grant of seven hundred and fifty pounds was given to our partner organisation who used the funds to purchase a large quantity of tea, coffee, sugar and snacks for the refugees residing in the centre that had been set up for them.
