HUNGER, FOOD
& NUTRITION YEMEN

A DEADLY CONFLICT

The Republic of Yemen is one of the driest, poorest and least developed countries in the world. It ranks 140 out of 182 countries on the UNDP Human Development Index (2009). An estimated 42 percent of the people are poor, and one Yemeni in five is malnourished.

In March of 2015 a conflict broke out between the government and Houthi rebels. The violence quickly spread across the country and a full scale war ensued causing widespread displacement and a large number of casualties.

SUPPORT FOR THE VICTIMS

As the situation unfolded and conditions deteriorated our team became increasingly concerned for the people of Yemen.

We decided to launch a campaign to provide food parcels to some of the worst affected citizens of Yemen, to be distributed over the blessed occasion of Eid.

WHAT WE DID

With the help of a local NGO, our team compiled a list of some of the worst affected families.

Good quality livestock in the form of goats were sought and purchased. Meat parcels were prepared and distributed to hundreds of families.
