BREAD FOR SYRIA

A LONG RUNNING CONFLICT

In January of 2011, anti government protesters took to the streets of Syria, calling for change and reform. The government of Syria responded to the peaceful demonstrations with excessive force, killing thousands of protesters and injuring many more.

Six years later, the situation which had escalated into a brutal war had affected over twelve million people.

ESSENTIAL SUPPORT

Bakeries set up on the Turkey/Syria border and inside Syria by our partner organisation are a lifeline for the people of Syria; they produce and distribute hundreds of thousands of packs of bread every week.

In order to support these bakeries we launched a fundraising campaign in a bid to provide them with twenty thousand kilos of flour, which would produce 200,000 pieces of bread for some of the most needy people in Syria.

WHAT WE DID

With the help of one of our partner organisations, twenty tonnes of flour was purchased in Turkey and taken across the border and delivered to several bakeries inside Syria.
