SUPPORTING WIDOWS

The situation of Pakistan and its ever growing poverty levels are of great concern; almost one third of the population subsist below the poverty line. The situation is a dire one, particularly for those who are weak and vulnerable within society like children and widowed women.

SUPPORT FOR PAKISTAN’S MOST VULNERABLE

From birth, Mrs Bashir was raised in severe poverty. After marrying it was hoped she would live a more serene life, however in 2009, she became a widow and was left to raise her only child alone. She made ends meet but her circumstances soon became intolerable, living without permanent shelter or regular food and drink.

Having been informed of Mrs Bashir’s plight by one of our long standing volunteers, we decided to launch a campaign to raise funds to build a house for Mrs Bashir and her child in order to provide them with a brighter future.

WHAT WE DID

Our team worked closely with Mrs Bashir and her relatives to find a suitable plot of land in her village of ??, to build a house upon.

We consulted with local builders and tradesmen before purchasing the materials and employing the necessary tradesmen to build the house. A ?? room house was built, complete with a bathroom and kitchen. Mrs Bashir can now focus on educating her child as well as seeking employment to support her family.
